Display Shoes as Art

For many high-end designer brands, the artisan skill and quality that goes into a pair of shoes could qualify them as art you can wear.

When you have shoes that beautiful, it doesn’t do them justice to simply store them away in the shoebox all year ’round. Treat them as you would treasured art works by giving them individual displays.

Try arranging small shelves large enough to display one pair of shoes at different heights along the wall of a bedroom or closet. If you’re concerned about the shoes being exposed to dirt, dust and other elements, just rotate them every week or so with shoes that are boxed in your closet. Not only is it good for the shoes, but you’re essentially changing out the room’s accent pieces every week.

Custom Built-Ins and Shelves

If adhering to a tight budget isn’t a concern, then installing custom built-ins is definitely the way to go. Selecting a company that specializes in closet design allows you to get a shoe-storage solution that is tailored specifically to your lifestyle.

Own a lot of tall boots? Notoriously difficult to store, boots become just as easy to display as other commonly-worn shoes because shelves can be built to accommodate that height.

However, you should only consider installing custom closet storage units if you plan on living in that home for a while.

Thread Racks to the Rescue

This shoe storage idea was simply too good not to share. For those of you with children, you are well aware that having children means your home will be overrun with everything baby-related.

Their shoes are no exception. In an ideal world,  we would have the energy to continually make sure that all of their shoes (and other items) are neatly organized day-in and day-out. If only.

As it turns out, thread racks make the perfect baby shoe storing solution. The pegs jut out just far enough to securely hook the shoes and, perhaps the best part of all, the thread rack itself doesn’t take up a lot of space.

A Lazy “Shoe-zen”

Why should your pantry have all the fun? The “Lazy Suzan” turntable has been a kitchen staple for years. Over time, the turntable idea found uses in other areas of the kitchen. The corner cabinets could conceal a turntable storage shelf that made accessing certain items much simpler.

The same principle applies to this “Lazy Shoe-zen”. This clever creation allows you to store a lager amount of shoes in a smaller space as well as allowing you easy access to any pair you’re looking for. A unit like this also frees up more square footage because it can be placed in a corner of the closet while still allowing full access to every single pair.

Between these ideas and the four mentioned in the first installment, you should have a pretty good idea of how you want to get that amazing shoe collection organized.

Still need a bit of inspiration?

Look at it this way: an organized closet usually creates more space; which means more shoes.
