The most neglected, and usually the most disorganized, area in the home is the closet. Not just the bedroom closets, but hall closets too.
Too often, closets become the go-to storage area for, well, anything. It never starts out that way. But as time goes on, our lives get busier, and we just need a quick place to store something.
While we may have every attention of addressing it in the very near future, months or even years go by before we get around to it and the clutter has accumulated to a full-grown problem.
Many are familiar with the images of individuals who dread opening up their closets only to drowned by a falling pile of close and other household items.
While amusing to some, it is a realistic scenario for many who don’t find it to be funny.
There are several ways to restore order to the chaos that has called your closets home.
The first, and probably most effective, thing you should do is clear the space of anything you don’t use regularly. A good rule of thumb is if you haven’t worn an item in over a year, it is fairly safe to get rid of it. Cleaning out closets and donating the items to a charitable organization can be a good way to do something good twice in one day.
Organizing your wardrobe by color and season is also a good idea. It may seem labor-intensive upfront, but can save valuable time when getting dressed for the day.
Don’t put it off for tomorrow. Get in there and organize your life today.
