Soft. Comfortable. Easy on the skin. Sure, these attributes could accurately describe a number of upholsteries.
Today, however, we’ve chosen to focus on one in particular: chenille.
French for caterpillar, the fabric tends to resemble the ribbed shell of the insect.
Similar to the storied creatures, once chenille fabric is manufactured, it is destined to be something beautiful.
Chenille is manufactured in a unique process by which short yarn known as ‘pile’ is placed between two other ‘core yarns’. All of the yarn is then twisted as one.
Common core materials can include olefin, acrylic and rayon, although cotton is most commonly seen.
The Newbury Chenille Sofa Collection by Homelegance is a great example of this thick, soft fabric at work.
The hardwood construction frame supports eight-way-hand-tied coil seating while the plush cushions don’t fail to support.
Chenille is a beautifully constructed fabric that has, to no one’s surprise, stood the test of time.
