Spring is finally here and so is the need to update the design of our rooms in order to match the mood. Think of it as an enjoyable form of Spring cleaning.
In the previous ‘Spring-Inspired Designing‘, we covered how to use bedding to warm up a room and provided a how-to for creating a custom, spring-themed table cloth.
A couple of hours and a gallon of paint is all that’s necessary to truly alter the look and feel of a space. Although we suggested using bright citrus colors that pop in the previous Spring-Inspired Designing, pastel colors are equally as popular and representative of Spring.
Colors have a direct impact on the energy in a room and truly effects our moods. This is why interior designers recommend keeping the louder, brighter colors to a minimum in rooms like the bedroom and bathroom, which were meant for relaxation. In these rooms, reserve the bolder colors for accent pieces, etc.
Pastels are known for their soothing qualities and therefore work great as both wall and accent colors. Consider using a lavender to help create a relaxing spa retreat. Mint green and sky blue are also great colors for bathrooms, primarily for the way the stand out in contrast to stark white cabinetry.
Pastels also work well in the main areas of the home. The Yellow Floral Console Table by Butler incorporates spring pastels and unique hand-painted floral designs. The table is constructed of solid woods and features a single drawer.
Brightening up a home doesn’t have to be done with loud, in-your-face color palettes.
