Weekend Warrior – Wall Treatments

Wall Graphic by blik

Have you been looking for quick, inexpensive ways to update the look of a room? Consider some simple wall treatments as the solution.

Good news. You don’t have to  be a skilled artist to turn your wall into a living canvas that you or your guests won’t be able to stop staring at.

This Weekend Warrior will demonstrate just how simple applying striking wall graphics can be.

The first step is to find a reputable graphics company that produces a variety of high quality, creative designs that suit your taste.

blik, based in Southern California, is a wall graphic company born out of necessity. Founders Scott Flora and Jerinne Neils faced the same dilemma that has confronted residents the whole world over: What to do with these walls when new paint or new wallpaper aren’t desirable options?

blik collaborates with an ever-increasing number of acclaimed graphic artists and designers to help bring their talent into your home at a fraction of the cost.

To transform any wall into a work of art that will last as long as necessary (these wall graphics are removable):

  1. Find a wall graphic design you like
  2. Make sure the wall the graphic is being applied to is clean and dry. Allow freshly painted walls two weeks to completely cure.
  3. Using a painter’s tape (or any other tape that won’t leave residue on the walls), hang up the graphics and map out exactly how you’d envision them to be.
  4. Lay the design on a hard surface (graphic side down) and use a flat, sturdy object to rub the back of the graphic onto the transfer tape. Squeegees work best, but other items like spatulas and credit cards can also do the trick.
  5. Starting at one corner of the backing, slowly peel away this paper backing in a rolling motion.
  6. Place the graphic against the wall holding the transfer tape with two hands. Using the same squeegee (or other object), smooth the graphic from one edge all the way out to avoid wrinkling or bubbling.
  7. Starting at a corner, slowly remove the transfer tape.

All that’s left is to enjoy your new wall art. Whenever you grow tired of it, simply peel it off. More information on blik as well as more of their striking designs are available on their website.
